The 18th annual conference of Russian satellite communications and broadcasting network operators and users SatComRus 2013 took place in Dubna on October 16 and 17. The Conference was held at the Congress Centre at Dubna Special Economic Zone (bld 1, 4 Programmistov St., Dubna, Moscow Region) and the Dubna Space Communications Centre. Organizer - Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) in cooperation with Centre for Post-Industrial Studies.
The agenda was built around three principal topics:
A GLOBAL block, wherein conference participants discussed industry-wide trends with an eye to global economic development and the activities of international organizations.
A REGIONAL (Russian) block, with a detailed analysis of the current status of the Russian satellite communications industry, including matters of regulation, interdisciplinary cooperation and governmental support of projects proposed by Russian and foreign companies, as well as the role of the satellite communications industry in implementing governmental plans (federal target programs) and addressing the problems of infrastructure development in Russia.
A TECHNOLOGICAL block, devoted entirely to the promotion of new technology on the global and local satellite communications markets.
As usual, the conference agenda included business activities and social activities:
- BUSINESS activities was held on October 16 and 17 at the Congress Center of Dubna Special Economic Zone (October 16: plenary session, panel discussions, etc.) and Dubna Space Communications Center (October 17), which was the venue for the engineering sessions, workshops and master classes.
- SOCIAL activities included a gala dinner for conference participants on the first “business” day of the conference after the end of official sessions; and “open air lunch” at Dubna Space Communications Center on October 17.
Traditionally, the list of annual RSCC conference participants includes senior officials from the Russian Ministry of Communications and Media and Russian Federal Communications Agency, managers of Russian and foreign satellite operators, TV and radio broadcasting companies, broadcasting network operators, system integrators, telecommunication equipment manufacturers, financial institutions and insurance companies, as well as industry analysts, experts and journalists.
